Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how CyWell, the Android workout application, handles information. CyWell lets you create a workout routine, record strength and cardio activity, use rest timers, and review workout history and locally calculated statistics.

CyWell does not transmit your workout data to CyWell or the developer. It does not share that workout data with other CyWell users. The app has no Internet permission or online backend. Android backup and files you choose to import or export are described below.

Information Stored on Your Device

CyWell stores workout data, workout history and app preferences in private application storage on your Android device, using a local app database and preferences.

This includes routine and exercise names; exercise types and target body areas; planned and recorded sets, repetitions and weights; cardio duration, speed or machine level and units; planned and actual rest duration and skipped rests; workout start and completion timestamps; saved workout history; the Home/Gym category you select; active workout and rest-timer progress; appearance preferences; and the selected alarm sound reference. Workout statistics and insights are calculated locally from these records.

Exercises, weights, repetitions, cardio activity and workout history may constitute fitness-related information. The CyWell developer does not receive this information.

How CyWell Uses Local Information

CyWell uses this information only on your device to manage routines, run workouts, keep workout history, calculate workout statistics, display training insights and track workout and rest progress. App preferences configure your appearance settings and rest-complete alerts.

Data CyWell Does Not Collect

CyWell does not require an online user account. There is no registration, login, password or social login. The Profile screen shows local workout history and insights; it is not an online account.

CyWell does not collect GPS or geographic location. The Home/Gym selection is a category selected by the user and does not use GPS or location tracking.

CyWell does not request access to your camera, microphone or contacts. The app does not integrate advertising, behavioral tracking, analytics or crash-reporting services.

Android Permissions and Notifications

CyWell uses Android’s notification permission to display a rest countdown and a rest-complete alert. A user-started foreground service keeps the rest countdown running while you use another app. CyWell uses the foreground-service and special-use foreground-service permissions for this purpose.

The app also declares Android’s full-screen-intent permission to show a rest-complete screen where Android permits it. You can manage notification and full-screen alert access in Android settings. Alerts may include the exercise name and set progress, and may appear on the lock screen depending on your notification settings. These functions do not transmit workout information to CyWell or the developer.

You can choose an alarm or notification sound through Android’s ringtone picker. CyWell stores the selected sound reference locally to configure rest-complete alerts. It does not upload the sound or reference.

Import and Export

You can manually export a workout routine as a JSON file or import a compatible routine JSON file using Android’s system document picker. Export occurs only when you initiate it and choose a destination through Android. Import occurs only after you select a file.

CyWell does not automatically upload exported files, and the CyWell developer does not receive copies of imported or exported routine files. These user-initiated file operations are not data collection by CyWell. If you save or share an exported file through another app or cloud-storage provider, that service’s own privacy terms apply.

Android Backup and Device Transfer

CyWell itself does not transmit your workout data to CyWell or its developer. However, the app permits Android backup. Android may back up or transfer app data through its backup, restore or device-to-device transfer features, depending on your Android version, device manufacturer, Google account and backup settings.

These features are provided and controlled by the Android or device platform. CyWell has no access to your Google backup account or copies of data held there through Android’s backup mechanism.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

CyWell does not sell your app data or share workout data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers or other third parties. There are currently no advertising or behavioral analytics services integrated into the Android app. Android platform backup and files you choose to export are described separately above.

Data Retention and Deletion

CyWell does not retain workout data on CyWell servers because it does not receive it. Local data remains on your device until removed by you or Android. You can delete individual saved workouts and individual exercises, or clear the routine’s exercise list, within the app.

You can clear CyWell application storage in Android settings. Uninstalling the app normally removes its locally stored application data. Android backup and restore may separately preserve or restore data when enabled. Exported files remain at your chosen destination until you delete them there.

CyWell does not maintain online user accounts, so there is no separate CyWell account-deletion process.

Security

CyWell stores app data in Android application-private storage. Normal Android application sandbox and security mechanisms restrict other apps’ direct access to that private data. Because CyWell does not transmit workout information to its own servers, there is no CyWell server-side transmission of workout information to secure.

No security mechanism provides an absolute guarantee. You remain responsible for maintaining the security of your Android device, including its access controls and operating-system updates.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated if CyWell’s functionality or data practices change. Updates will be published on this page with a revised Last updated date.
